Tips about body type for 10m air rifle shooting

Hi,

I shoot in 10m air rifle event and have been practicing quite well since last one year. Before that, i used to workout (strength and cardio both) and had muscular body. My coach instructed me to stop heavy weight strength training saying this would pe problematic while shooting. According to him people tend to have more movement while holding the weapon with a muscular body. So i stopped going to gym. Now i've already put on some weight ( i do cardio on and off though) and really miss those pumped biceps.Is it really true that i cant have them muscles back if i want to continue air rifle shooting ?

Honestly I don't think it will make a big difference, in particular if you are not a professional. Increasing muscle mass (without steroids) takes a long time, the body has plenty of time to adapt to the changes, in particular if you do also cardio. And if you really see a negative impact you can always stop

Besides, on "the other" Pentax Forum, a long-time Pentax user who served in Iraq posted a shooting stance tutorial which was based on the manuals he learnt from while in the Army.

E' un culturista che si è dato al tiro ad aria compressa ed il suo allenatore di tiro gli ha detto (giustamente) di piantarla con i pesi. Lui lo ha fatto ma gli piacevano i muscoli a canotto e chiedeva a noi se è proprio vero che le due cose non vanno bene perchè sul web non ha trovato conforto. Il tutto deriva dal fatto che un traduttore automatico potrebbe tradurre tecniche di scatto con "shooting techniques" che però si legge anche come tecniche di SPARO, e siccome gli estrogeni ottundono il cervello...
